My Facebook account was suddenly locked. It may take about an hour for the account to be unlocked, but in some cases, it may be permanently deleted.
This is the current situation.
My Facebook account was suddenly locked today, August 30th, 2025, at around 3pm.
Immediately afterwards, I did the following:
Then, an hour and a half after my Facebook account was locked, that is, around 4:30 p.m. on August 30, 2025, I checked and found that it had been unlocked, as shown below. However, when I posted about what had happened up to that point and about this page on Facebook, my Facebook account was locked again.
The second time my Facebook account was locked, I was prompted with the following message after verifying my identity via SMS on my mobile phone:
Since then, this message has been displayed and I am now unable to use Facebook.
The first time my Facebook account was locked, it said the review would take an hour, but the second time it increased to a day.
Around 8:00 PM on September 2, 2025, Japan time, I accessed Facebook to check if my account had been unlocked. The screen above was still displayed, but there was an icon in the top right corner. When I clicked on it, a new link appeared that didn’t seem to have been there before, something like “Check to see if your account has been logged in with unauthorized access,” though I don’t remember the exact details. Since the only other thing I could do at the time was download my profile, Since the only other thing I could do at the time was download my profile, I clicked the new link. I was asked to verify my contact details etc and then I was finally able to use Facebook (it seemed my account hadn’t been compromised).
Fortunately, I am now able to use Facebook again, but I am concerned that it may become unavailable again at any time. In the worst case scenario, my account may be permanently deleted.
Over the past few days, while researching online, I’ve come across reports of many people suddenly losing access to their Facebook accounts, or even having their accounts locked and permanently deleted. (Apparently, these sudden account locks are caused by Facebook’s AI frequently falsely detecting rule violations).
On the other hand, this site is run by me using a paid service. Unlike Facebook, which is free, it’s unlikely that the site here will suddenly become unavailable for no reason. If my Facebook account gets locked again and no one can view my Facebook page, please check this site.
